Holding Emergency Response Simulation, Semen Gresik Ensures the Reliability of K3 Implementation in the Company Environment
Rembang, June 21st, 2024 – PT Semen Gresik again held an emergency response simulation held in the explosives warehouse area of the Rembang Factory, on Wednesday, June 12, 2024.
The emergency response simulation which is held every year involves personnel from the Occupational Safety and Health (K3) section, Mine section, Security section, United Tractors Semen Gresik (UTSG), and from the Factory Polyclinic team.
"Emergencies, such as fires, natural disasters, and various other types of work accidents can occur at any time and unexpectedly. Therefore, every company must have good emergency response planning procedures," explained PTSG Senior Manager of Communication & CSR Sulistyono.
He said that this activity is to ensure that workers know and understand emergency response procedures and the readiness of equipment and teams in dealing with emergencies. As a tangible manifestation of the company's commitment and implementation of the K3 management system.
"Exactly at 08.00 WIB the simulation began with smoke billowing from the container containing equipment caused by an electrical short circuit, causing sparks and local fires in the area. Then the workers coordinated with the security team and the firefighting team," he explained.
In the process of simulating the extinguishing and evacuation of the unit, there were two personnel who were injured because they inhaled too much smoke and burned their hands so that the personnel were evacuated by the medical team.
"The flow of this emergency response simulation is set to be the same as the original according to the scenario, where each personnel on duty plays a role seriously," he explained.
Sulistyono hopes that the emergency response simulation will be able to train personnel's preparedness in handling emergencies in any position.
"And also, to evaluate the readiness of supporting tools and infrastructure in carrying out emergency response. In addition, we also evaluate whether the existing emergency response procedures are still effectively implemented," he concluded.
